Challenge

The primary challenge in the Solway School project was to undertake weathertightness remediation for two classrooms to ensure they were conducive to learning, providing a healthy, dry environment. Safety and Compliance:
Safety measures included securely netted fencing and locked classroom doors to separate the construction zone from student areas, preventing unauthorised access. The project adhered to the Building Act 2004, local authorities' consent requirements, and ongoing compliance monitoring, ensuring all construction was up to code and authorised.

 

Outcomes

The project incorporated innovative features such as double glazing and advanced insulation materials to improve the environmental and acoustic conditions of the classrooms. The successful completion led to dry, healthy classrooms that are conducive to learning, thereby enhancing the quality of education by improving the physical learning space.
