Transport Choices Motueka
Client: Tasman District Council
Project Type: Project Management, Infrastructure
Project Manager: Dan Roberts
Location: Motueka, New Zealand
We're pioneering safer urban spaces by introducing and revamping cycle paths. Key intersections are redesigned for enhanced pedestrian and cyclist safety. Backed by our expertise in Project Management and Infrastructure, we ensure seamless transitions and top-tier results in every initiative.
“We are delighted with the work that Dan has done on this challenging and dynamic project. With a short time frame for delivery we have had to be very agile responding to public feedback and managing multiple design streams at once.”
Challenge
There was extensive scope to the project, which aimed to provide community access through a network of cycling routes, safe roundabouts, traffic calmed slow speed areas, raised tables and secure cycle parking.
The planning needed to complement the Tasman Walking and Cycling strategy as well as the Regional Public Transport plan. We also needed to take into consideration of the wider community’s access including residential areas, the town centre and school districts.
Extensive consultation was required throughout the process, and a range of input from various collaborative partners had to be managed.
Approach
BPM was driven not only by the project brief, but to maintain open communication throughout. Community buy-in is important in smaller regions and extensive consultation is crucial to a successful outcome for all involved.
Outcomes
The Transport Choices outcome will be measured in full with use, but BPM, in collaboration with Tasman District Council have made improvements across the network of cycleways across Motueka. This means more people can bike safely and there’s more secure areas for school children commuting to and from school.
Further updates will come once a a post completion survey and traffic counts will be done.
Keep your eyes peeled for updates.
